Domestic abuse
Across the UK a significant number of people suffer domestic abuse. As a large volume of cases go unreported the true scale of the problem is difficult to determine. However, studies suggest many millions of people are affected every year.
We believe that housing providers, including Newlon, must do as much as they can to tackle this issue.
Our approach to domestic abuse
We will respond to all reports of domestic abuse within 48 hours, in a sensitive manner and in line with our confidentiality policy. We shall only undertake enquiries or share information with other agencies with the explicit consent of the person in question. In addition, we will keep them informed about the progress of the case, including any updates on referrals.
Our domestic violence policy, which outlines our approach in more detail, can be found at the bottom of this page.
Domestic abuse hotline
If you are experiencing domestic abuse and need urgent assistance please contact the National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247.

- Make a referral to emergency accommodation.
- Provide information about legal rights.
- Carry out safety planning to protect yourself or your children.
- Offer emotional support and access to counselling services.
- Refer to face-to-face support via drop-in or outreach domestic violence services in the local area.
- Give practical advice on getting injunctions and the criminal prosecution process.
Please note that if you are in immediate danger then call the police on 999.
