Litigation/Housing Paralegal (fixed-term contract until September 2024)

Description

Newlon Housing Trust is a successful charitable housing association and one of the major providers of new affordable housing in north and east London.

Working in support of our Litigation Solicitor, you will carry out a full range of duties working on Disrepair Housing cases. You will be required to maintain records, produce and file correspondence, research files to collate legal responses and keep detailed records of claims and applications. You will also set up mediation meetings, and produce data reports from various IT systems which will provide invaluable information to the Litigation Solicitor in handling their cases.

Having previously worked in a similar role, you will have a good understanding of Housing Law and/or Civil Litigation and of dealing successfully with opening new files. Efficient and able to work on your own initiative, you will be comfortable working to tight deadlines and under pressure. You will also have an understanding of the disrepair Protocol and the Civil Produce rule, as well as experience of dealing with a busy caseload of housing litigation matters, including defending disrepair claims, possession, civil injunctions and defending EPA claims.

In return, you can expect 27 days holiday, a non-contributory pension, excellent benefits and a flexi scheme.  You’ll also be working out of purpose-built offices that form part of the award-winning Hale Village regeneration project and are situated just two minutes’ walk from the major transport interchange at Tottenham Hale.

Closing date: 23:59 on Monday 4 December 2023

Assessments will be held online on Wednesday 6 December 2023

Interviews will be held in-person at our offices in Hale Village on Tuesday 12 December 2023
