Graduate Programme – Property Services (15-month fixed term contract)
Description
Have you a burning desire to make a real difference to communities in North and East London? If you have a passion for social and environmental justice and are wanting to start a career within housing services, then this opportunity is perfect for you. Newlon Housing in partnership with the GEM Programme offer you the opportunity to accelerate your development by creating challenging and thought-provoking learning opportunities while doing your day job. You will have exposure to people and situations that many who have worked in housing for a number of years haven’t experienced.
Newlon Housing Trust is a successful charitable housing association and one of the major providers of new affordable housing in north and east London.
We are very pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for someone to join our friendly team at Newlon and gain vital experience in a housing association setting. Newlon has grown to reflect the fast-paced changes in the world of housing and it’s a friendly and very diverse place to work.
You will be working in our Asset Management team which works across the organisation with service leads to ensure that we are providing a service to our residents, that is responsive to our residents’ diverse needs and one that we can be proud of. As we work across teams, you will have a great opportunity to help effect change and get a great understanding on how other departments work and what their priorities are, so it is a great opportunity for this role to gain extensive knowledge and experience in the dynamic housing organisation.
With a relevant degree at 2.2 level or above, or the equivalent, you will have first class customer service skills and preferably, experience of dealing efficiently and effectively with members of the public. Excellent IT and communication skills are essential, along with a strong team ethic and the ability to work well under pressure.
In return, you can expect 27 days holiday, a non-contributory pension, excellent benefits and a flexi scheme. You’ll also be working out of purpose-built offices that form part of the award-winning Hale Village regeneration project and are situated just two minutes’ walk from the major transport interchange at Tottenham Hale.
Within property services it is not always possible for staff to work on a hybrid basis, and any arrangement for hybrid working will be at the Manager’s discretion (in the instance that we are able to offer hybrid working, we expect a minimum of two days in the office, but you will be expected to be full time in the office in the initial probation period) and we use Teams for meetings when working from home.
We offer a 15-month contract and during this time you will be mentored by a senior manager as well as another member of staff who has recently completed the GEM programme to give a wider picture of Newlon.
If all of this appeals to you we would be delighted to receive your application and to meet you if you progress to the next stage.
A place on the GEM Programme:
