Newlon Housing Trust is a successful charitable housing association and one of the major providers of new affordable housing in north and east London.

We are very pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for someone to join our friendly team at Newlon and gain vital experience in a housing association setting.

You will be working in our Service Improvement team which works across the organisation with service leads to ensure that we are providing a good service to our residents, that is responsive to our residents’ diverse needs and one that we can be proud of. As we work across teams, you will have a great opportunity to help effect change and get a great understanding on how other departments work and what their priorities are, so it is a great opportunity for this role to gain extensive knowledge and experience in the dynamic housing organisation.

With a relevant degree at 2.2 level or above, or the equivalent, you will have first class customer service skills and experience of dealing efficiently and effectively with members of the public. Excellent IT and communication skills are also essential, along with a strong team ethic and the ability to work well under pressure.

You’ll also be working out of purpose-built offices that form part of the award-winning Hale Village regeneration project and are situated just two minutes’ walk from the major transport interchange at Tottenham Hale.

Most staff work in our Head Office on a hybrid basis, (we expect a minimum of two days in the office, but you will be expected to be full time in the office in the initial 6-8 weeks) and we use Teams for meetings when working from home. It’s a friendly place to work. Many staff have worked here for a long while, having moved across different teams doing different jobs, but we have a lot of new staff too, as we have grown to reflect the changing world of housing.

We want to offer a 15-month contract and you will be mentored by someone with a lot of housing experience as well as another member of staff who has recently completed the GEM programme to give a wider picture of Newlon.

The GEM Programme is an award-winning development programme which is nationally recognised for its outstanding work in building careers in housing.

During your time on the programme, you’ll be involved in inspiring developmental opportunities across a 12-month period and build extensive networks with other GEMs, sector leaders and those who make and influence policy at national level.

Salary: £28,000 per annum plus opportunity to earn up to 5% performance related bonus
