Do you want to be a Community Researcher?

We want local residents to do Community Research to bring about change in Hackney Wick

A community researcher is a person who:

  • researches and gathers information using a wide range of activities, engagement tools and techniques
  • uses the information collected to understand local needs and provide background to shape evidence-based projects to benefit the community
  • develops analytical skills to present the information

Wick Award is offering a free three month course running from September 2015

The course will build skills and confidence of participants to do community research on local estates.

You will have one-to one support to work at your own pace, learn and practice new skills including:

  • Communication skills
  • Research skills
  • Consultation skills to engage different groups
  • Recording information
  • Practical experience of designing and delivering a community event

Applicants do not need any experience of research but must be living or working in  Hackney Wick Big Local area and be able to attend part-time training and activities over the next four to six months.

Participants will gain:

  • Understanding and experience of community consultation
  • Achieve your personal learning outcomes
  • Develop portfolio to gain accreditation
  • Chance to develop your own project, get into new training or work opportunities
