Parkguard Security Services
Parkguard work closely with Islington Council and other local authorities inside and outside of London, together with the Metropolitan Police in London. Parkguard’s local authority and community support services range from youth engagement, harm reduction and outreach, to police support, independent patrols, and dealing with dog related problems.
The majority of their services are in the form of community reassurance, focusing on signal crimes and low-level offences. They conduct high-visibility patrols and bespoke projects in an effort to promote community safety.
After a short trial Newlon initially entered into a contract with Parkguard for 2014 to 2015, for them to patrol our blocks and estates in a marked Newlon/Parkguard vehicle and deal with antisocial behaviour (ASB) in Islington. The estates and schemes they operate at are listed below.
The purpose of the agreement is to act as a deterrent to ASB, to be a reassuring presence for residents, to act as a link with the police attending incidents, and to capture evidence for subsequent action against individuals. The patrols are carried out by one permanent member of staff, who is a dog handler. Often other Parkguard operatives on patrol in Islington will assist the permanent member of staff who is in radio contact. This will depend on the situation, such as if the operative feels they require back up or assistance when dealing with an incident.
Full general reports of every patrol are provided by email by the administrative staff, in addition to reports of a specific nature concerning incidents which have occurred.
Parkguard visit the estates and schemes below. Patrols of the Barnsbury Estate tend to account for a greater share of the time because of the size and nature of the estate.
