Regulation and governance
As a charitable housing association Newlon is regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing. We are also an investment partner with the Greater London Authority (GLA) who lead on the delivery of new affordable housing in London.
Newlon’s governance is overseen by an independent Board. The Board has adopted the National Housing Federation’s (NHF) Code of Conduct 2022 and Code of Governance 2020. The Board reviews compliance with the codes annually and confirms Newlon is compliant with both the Code of Conduct and Code of Governance. Newlon is in the process of transitioning to the NHF Governance best practice, which recommends that Board members should not serve for longer than six years. The information regarding the composition and tenure of Board members can be found in the Annual report and accounts.
We currently have the highest G1 rating for governance and V2 for viability from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).
You can read the full regulatory judgement on the RSH website.
The Board undertakes a self-assessment of compliance with the RSH’s Regulatory Standards annually and confirms the Association is compliant with the standards.
We regularly publish performance information in the our performance section of this website. You can also find our latest Annual Report, Residents’ Review (our annual performance report to our residents) and our Report and Financial Statements in the publications section.
